Hello, America, it's the Bad Luck Duck here. I've been driving big trucks since November of 1992. In that time, I've seen our government do some pretty stupid things concerning truckers and trucks in general. The fuel price explosion which caused so many companies to close their doors was just the beginning. I remember listening to thick headed politicians talking about how our hours of service should be cut simply because THEY are a bunch of lazy bums who can't drive for more than an hour without taking a three hour nap. Add to that the whole NAFTA debacle, lax regulation on Mexican trucks, and a host of House Bills designed to suck the very life from our bones and you see where this is all going. Now they want to black box our rigs and tell us what we can and can't do within the confines of our own vehicles. On top of that, Obama seems to have it in for overweight truck drivers, too. I think they may have to change their tune when they put more than a million drivers out of work, though. Obviously, Obama's goal is to totally cripple America's economy. We are, when you get right down to it, the very heart of America. Truckers make America operate like the well-oiled machine it is, but imagine what would happen if America's trucker fleet was suddenly cut in half.....
What do you think America will be like when stores suddenly don't have products on their shelves? No gas at the fuel pumps, no clothes at the mall, no cars on the lots? I think it's high time we gave the government a little demonstration of just how that America would look and, better still, let them squirm when the people savagely turn on THEM when they can't get food for their babies and have to sit in line for hours just to get five gallons of gas when the government is forced to ration it. Do you think they will rethink their position then? I do. Let us get together my fellow drivers. Let us do more than sit back and take this continuing theft of our livelihoods and self esteem. Let us finally say to this greedy, uncaring bureaucracy "enough is enough!" and take back what has been stolen from us one surreptitious bit at a time. Join me in planning a nationwide trucking strike. Together, we can make driving a worthwhile and profitable career once more.
